Education and Capacity Building

Education and Capacity Building

The Education and Capacity Building Program aims to enhance learning opportunities for individuals and groups in vulnerable communities. By providing access to formal education, vocational training, and leadership development, we ensure that communities have the knowledge and skills necessary to confront and overcome challenges.

Through this program, we focus on empowering individuals, particularly youth, women, and marginalized groups, with the education they need to access better economic opportunities, participate in decision-making, and contribute to sustainable community development. We also work to build the capacity of local leaders, educators, and community-based organizations to deliver quality services and implement development strategies effectively.

Program Objectives

Improve Access to Quality Education

Ensure that children, particularly girls and vulnerable groups, have access to basic education, including literacy and numeracy skills.

Promote Vocational and Technical Training

Provide vocational skills and technical training that enable young people and adults to access employment opportunities or start small businesses.

Build Leadership and Community Development Skills

Develop leadership capacity among youth and women to take on leadership roles in local governance, peacebuilding, and community development.

Enhance Adult Education and Lifelong Learning

Create adult literacy programs to improve basic literacy and numeracy among adults and marginalized groups, particularly women and older generations.

Strengthen Educational Infrastructure

Improve the infrastructure of schools and learning centers, ensuring they are safe, inclusive, and equipped to meet the needs of learners.

Future Goals

In the future, APRPC seeks to expand its programs to reach more communities across the
ASAL regions of Northern Kenya, refine its strategies based on ongoing assessments, and
build stronger partnerships to support sustainable pastoral development and peace in the
region.
