At APRPC, we are committed to supporting sustainable development in ASALs Counties through targeted consultancy services that address the region’s unique environmental and agricultural challenges. Our areas of expertise include

Consultancy Services

Master Training Using the Farmer Field School (FFS) Approach

We offer customized Farmer Field School training programs designed for the pastoralist and agro-pastoralist communities of Wajir. Our participatory approach equips local farmers and extension workers with practical knowledge on climate-resilient agriculture, water-efficient techniques, and sustainable livestock management.

Land Rehabilitation Expertise for Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs)

Our consultants specialize in rehabilitating degraded lands, a critical need in ASALs fragile ecosystem. We provide technical support for soil and water conservation, rangeland restoration, and reforestation initiatives aimed at reversing desertification and improving livelihoods.

Value Chain Training and Development

We work and do training on local producers, cooperatives, and stakeholders to strengthen value chains for key products such as livestock, hides and skins, and drought-tolerant crops. Our training enhances market access, quality control, and enterprise development across the county.

Context-Specific Research and Soil Testing Services

We conduct localized agricultural and environmental research, including soil testing and land suitability assessments. Our services help inform sustainable land use planning, crop selection, and pasture improvement, tailored to the arid conditions of Wajir.

Future Goals

In the future, APRPC seeks to expand its programs to reach more communities across the
ASAL regions of Northern Kenya, refine its strategies based on ongoing assessments, and
build stronger partnerships to support sustainable pastoral development and peace in the
region.
